First day of Fall

Pluviophile: (n.) a lover of rain; someone who finds joy and peace of mind during rainy days.

Every year at the same time, I long for shorter days, colder mornings and crisp orange leaves on the ground. I am always very eager for the weather to change because with it, comes a fresh season and a new change of pace. Our oldest goes back to school, we mix up the dinner menu as well as our wardrobes.

Chunky oversized sweaters, jeans and boots are my jam, also don’t forget about thick socks! I love fall because it brings a change in the atmosphere which usually allows people to get out of whatever funk they were in during summer. Sometimes people need a good season change to help them if they are feeling stuck in life.

Savory foods filled with spices and seasonal veggies are usually my go-to fall foods. Hot chocolate for the kids, and hot coffee on a cold morning is my favorite thing about fall. I love getting up, putting on warm socks and pouring a hot cup of coffee. This morning I was able to enjoy this moment while snuggled under a blanket while watching HGTV.

With our three kids, we love to spend time outside during this season. Bundle them up and head outside to build forts or play in the rain is something we look forward to every year. This year will not be any different. Yes, we are living in our trailer but the activities will not change. I will just have to keep up on the sweeping more. This is also the perfect season for some cute fall photos of the kids so be sure to get your phones out or your DSLR cameras and get to snapping! You definitely don’t want to miss out on the excitement of puddle jumping!

If being outside in the cold and rain is not your thing, that is okay too! Grab a good book, a warm blanket and settle in to get lost in another world. This is one of my favorite things to do when I have a little down time between mom-ing, cleaning and writing. Getting lost in someone else’s story is something I will always love to do and fall is the perfect season to do this.

Another fun thing to do this season is settle in and watch Lifetime movies! This is something I always did with my mom growing up and I will admit, I have carried on the tradition with my kids. Just ask my oldest son what my favorite thing to do is- he will say “watch Lifetime movies!” Here is a link to the new fall lineup!

Whatever your traditions are for this new season, be sure to really enjoy them, put your phone down, take time away from social media or electronics and really enjoy the moments. Life happens too quickly, children grow up just as quick as the seasons change so embrace it and immerse yourself in it because you can never get it back. Laugh a little more, tell stories, share secrets and capture what you can because it will change in a second.

Please share your traditions and your favorite (or not so favorite) things about this season below. Tell me why you love it or why you don’t!

xoxo

  5. I love fall! The best clothing belongs to fall. It’s perfect outside to go do things. It’s not too hot like late summer and not too cold like winter. I also love the excitement of this time of year. Everybody trying to get outside before it gets too cold. I love to curl up with a new book or show this time of year while listening to the rain outside. Great post!
